Dear Freinds- As the days grow longer many people south of here start winding down on their ice fishing. Up here on the border the best is yet to come. Rainy Lake walleye can be taken till mid-April(often the ice is good right up to that point) and pike never closes. Today we booked a group of 17 tip-up anglers for March. If you are going to visit Mexico this winter keep your ice gear out so you can get one more trip in before open water. Woody

My freind Kelly Blome (Falls Motel) and I were out chasing some slab crappies. We found slobs instead.
These were the fattest crappies I have seen in a long time. When they hit is was all business.
Rainy is going great guns and with the ice we have it will definately be a banner winter! C'mon up. The waters' fine.

Many huge walleyes coming out of Sand Bay right now. They seem to be hitting on avariety of baits including tip-ups. The rest of the lake will be turning on soon.

Sand Bay is frozen over. My friend Dick Garbe of Nothernaire Houseboats is fishing in Jackfish Bay.
You can walk out to Black Bay Narrows for some great early walleye/sauger action. The St. Paul Ice Show was packed and all indicators point to a spectacular year to ice fish! Keep an eye on our web videos/photos. Hope to see you soon. Woody

It won't be long now and we'll be walking to some pretty decent ice fishing. Black Bay Narrows will be on the top of the agenda for some healthy walleyes and big saugers.
